About BirdHunt
BirdHunt helps hunters plan trips across state lines: season dates by zone, bag limits, what a nonresident license actually costs, and the draw and reservation deadlines that are easy to miss. It started with waterfowl, added spring turkey, and is built by hunters who got tired of digging through fifty agency websites every fall.
Where the information comes from
- Official sources only. Every season, limit, fee and deadline is taken from the state wildlife agency's regulations, fee tables or announcements (or the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for federal items). Each one links to the page it came from, with the date we last checked it.
- Checked by a person. New data, whether typed in or pulled from a regulations PDF, goes into a review queue and is compared against the source before it's published.
- Watched for changes. We re-read the cited agency pages on a schedule (daily in late summer, when states set their seasons) and flag anything that changed for review.
- Corrected quickly. Every section has a "Report a correction" link. Reports go straight to our review queue.
Where an agency's site couldn't be read directly and a price came from a secondary source, the item says so and asks you to confirm it. Regulations change during the year, so always confirm with the agency before you hunt; see our terms.
What we won't do
- Burn spots. We plan trips; we don't publish GPS pins, named holes or blind locations.
- Sell your information. See our privacy page.
- Let money pick the regulations. Affiliate links and sponsors never change what the rules say.
